Instrumental plus backing vocals, ready for the screen.

A karaoke track is not just an instrumental. Take every voice out and the chorus collapses, because the harmonies and the crowd-answer parts were carrying it.

This tool removes the lead vocal and keeps the backing vocals, so the singer has the arrangement to lean on and the chorus still lands.

Key points

  • Removes only the lead; harmonies and backing vocals stay.
  • Built for live performance, where a bare instrumental feels empty.
  • Backing vocal level is adjustable to taste.
  • 1 token per run.

How it differs from the Vocal Remover

The Vocal Remover clears the voice out completely and gives you a clean instrumental. That is the right tool when you want to write over a beat or use the production on its own.

This one is built for performance. The lead is pulled out of the centre while the harmony parts that sit around it are preserved, which is what makes a karaoke or backing track feel like the record rather than a demo of it.

What it is good for

  • Karaoke nights and venues. Tracks that sound like the original when the room sings along.
  • Live sets. A performance track that keeps the stacked chorus vocals behind the lead singer.
  • Tribute and covers acts. Keep the arrangement's character without the original lead.
  • Vocal practice. Sing the lead with the harmonies still guiding you.

What it costs

Karaoke / Performance Track Maker costs 1 token per run. Tokens work across every tool, so one balance covers everything here. A Studio subscription at $19.99 a month includes a monthly allowance and the full engine alongside it.

Common questions

Can I control how loud the backing vocals are?

Yes. There is a backing vocal level control, so you can bring the harmonies forward for a big chorus or push them back if they compete with the singer.

Will it work on a song with no backing vocals?

It will, and the result will be close to a plain instrumental, because there are no harmony parts to keep. For that case the Vocal Remover is the simpler choice.

Why does the lead sometimes leave a trace?

Reverb and delay from the lead vocal are spread across the mix and partly overlap the backing parts. A very wet lead can leave a faint tail. It is usually inaudible once the singer is performing over it.

  • Vocal Remover (1 token) — Take the lead vocal out and keep a clean instrumental.
  • Acapella Extractor (1 token) — Pull the vocal out on its own, clean enough to reuse.
  • Stem Separation (2 tokens) — Split any song into vocals, drums, bass and instruments.

Or let the engine do all of it.

This tool does one job. The engine does the whole record: separation, a mix, a master and the reasoning behind every decision.
